Human ElementsThe Perfect Formula
Chemistry is key to making great things happen in marketing and business. A strong connection and shared commitment can create a mutually rewarding relationship. To take a quantum leap forward, it helps to join forces with people who have an affinity for your unique qualities and the creative energy to change your orbit. With AdServices, it’s elemental.
Track Coach, Potential U
AdServices founder Steve Fales doesn’t do anything half way. During much of the ad agency’s history he’s worked seven-day weeks providing leadership and client service to drive steady growth.
Endurance running became the next challenge, with swimming and cycling soon to follow. Today he is active in triathlons and marathons from the U.S. to London.
In all endeavors, tapping potential is Steve’s theme: “My mission is to live to my full potential – physically, mentally / emotionally, and spiritually – and to be a significant instrument in helping others do the same.”
Impact made. More to come.
Director of Operations
If you have a problem that needs solving, Donavan’s your man. Dubbed “Mr. Versatility,” he’s been known to crack a computer glitch, restore an Internet connection and erect a workstation all before 9 a.m.
A devoted husband and father, Donavan’s favorite projects are building confidence and a sense of accomplishment in children. As a coach for his son’s baseball team, he’s happiest when he can school a group of impressionable kids in the basics of the game and watch them grow.
Father. Coach. Role model. This Mr. Versatility thing fits Donavan like a glove.
Director of Client and Community Relationships
It’s not Gregg’s 1,989 Facebook friends that’s impressive. It’s that he knows at least that many people in real life. The man remains close with some of the kids he grew up with, and has added a steady stream of friends and acquaintances through the years.
Dubbed “the Mayor of Fort Lauderdale” by a colleague, Gregg’s affable nature and well-honed social skills often put him in a position to form meaningful connections with a wide range of people.
Wife Margot and twin boys Evan and Myles get 24/7 access of course.
Director of Strategy
An avid organizer with an eye for harmonizing aesthetics and efficiency, Tonya enjoys the challenges of tackling home improvement tasks.
“If it has anything to do with purging, organizing and building, I’m probably going to be interested,” she admits. She also invests a share of her considerable energies in working out and learning Spanish.
Tonya enjoys watching daughter Cynthia approach life with an artist’s eye and a spirit of adventure. “She’s got a sharp, creative mind and a compassionate way of accepting people,” she affirmed.
Looks like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Director of Major Accounts
As the lone member of AdServices’ New Orleans office, Ryan has the skills of a great jazz musician.
He can improvise a brainstorming jam session with coworkers in South Florida, hit the right notes on a conference call with clients cross country, and bang out a marketing proposal without missing a beat.
Just as impressive, he’s an accomplished craft beer brewer, wowing friends and family with flavorful creations under his Swampwater Brewing label.
He’s one cool dude, that O’Donnell cat. Rich and mellow like a saxophone solo. Or a Swampwater ale.
Director of Finance
Captain Mom, SS Allen
As a self-professed lifelong learner, Debbie is always looking for experiences that expand her understanding of the world and herself. That curiosity compelled her to try something most people wouldn’t: Living on a boat.
Calling a catamaran named “Unbound” home, Debbie, husband Tim and their three children cruised the Bahamas and Virgin Islands for two years. “We taught the kids the things they would learn in school,” she reminisces. “And we had adventures that taught us all how to live fully in the moment.”
Captain of her fate. Master of her ship. That’s Debbie Allen.
“Eagle-eyed archer” aren’t the first words you’d expect to describe the average account executive. But Alex Duran never had any intention of being average.
Having attained dual bachelor’s and master’s degrees before age 25, he’s at his happiest when pursuing a challenge. Archery intrigued him so he hired a coach, put in the time and perfected the craft. Motorcycles were an exhilarating outlet so he immersed himself in the rewards of riding and maintaining one.
What’s next? With Alex’s appetite for exploring life’s possibilities, all options are open. One thing for certain: He’ll aim high.
Jen is no stranger to the saying “Life is all about plan B.” She’s seen too many plot twists to etch anything in stone. Her college education is just one example.
A member of Loyola University’s 2009 “Class of Katrina,” she was beginning her freshman year when the hurricane hit New Orleans, closing down the city and the university.
As a self-professed bookworm Jen appreciates the refinements digital technology has introduced – especially when it comes to her Kindle: “Now I can always have a hundred books on me and my spine doesn’t want to stage a mutiny.”
Famed Fish Whisperer
Golf, boating, fishing – South Florida is a tropical playground and Diane Sosa is here to play.
On many weekends, Diane and the love of her life Dan roam the warm waters of the Atlantic in search of the wonders of the deep. They often come back loaded … with fresh seafood that is.
Diane and Dan also golf together, though she admits her main thrill is to drive the golf cart. “I just like zipping around in it,” she shrugs.
That’s Diane Sosa. Always with her foot on the gas pedal.
Audrey Hepburn Stand-in
Debbie develops strategic media campaigns across multiple platforms with expertise in general market, ethnic and direct response. In a more than 30 year career she has worked with clients such as AT&T, MetLife, Western Union and numerous Fortune 500 companies. She is a Silver Echo Award recipient for new product launch in the multi-media category.
Digital Team Leader
Hang gliding. Jetpacking. Ziplining. If it involves spine-tingling, adrenaline-pumping thrills, count Yribel in. A devout Christian, perhaps it’s her faith that God is her co-pilot that gives her the courage to flirt with danger.
When it’s time to get down to earth, Yribel brings a rare blend of experience, judgment and personality to her role as Digital Team Leader. She has won over clients and colleagues by preaching the merits of search engine optimization.
But when the next call of adventure beckons, she’s likely to take the leap. Right after a well-timed prayer.
Digital Marketing Coordinator
Subaru BRZ Stunt Driver
The lyric “I get by with a little help from my friends” sums up Jen’s early career days perfectly. “I saw my peers excel and reach goals,” she reflects. “That was a tremendous influence in helping me grow.”
While she loves continuous learning, Jen also craves escapism. A video gaming geek since childhood, she enjoys getting lost in fantasy worlds like the popular Tomb Raider series.
“Bold characters and non-stop adventure are what make it all so memorable,” she observes. Not sure if she’s referring to a video game or a day at AdServices.
Production / Traffic Manager
Host of Ann’s Coffee Talk
By day, Ann plays a pivotal role in overseeing the agency’s output of advertising materials. By night, she’s content to hang out with her husband Justin, play with her beloved dog Chewy, or take in a movie or concert with friends.
A big country music fan who also carries a torch for 90s rock, Ann’s concert highlights include seeing Jason Aldean, Green Day, Eric Church, and Aerosmith, just to name a few.
She’s a little bit country, she’s a little bit rock. She’s Ann Byrd, AdServices’ upbeat production and traffic manager.
Copy & Concepts
Alan started writing to see what goofball things would make his brother snort milk out of his nose. Later, he found more socially acceptable channels for his creativity by working for advertising agencies.
He sold his first nationally published piece to Wine Enthusiast Magazine – a satire on keeping a wine journal. His work since has been featured in books, magazines, newspapers and websites.
A practical man who knows that writing for a living is risky going, Alan believes he can always return to his previous career as a leggy super model.
Senior Art Director
Joe’s Creative Juices CEO
A talented artist, you might have seen Joe’s stylized pop paintings on Miami’s South Beach or featured on the event posters for the Riverwalk Blues Festival.
His influences range from Picasso and Dali to the masters of the 1960s Pop Art Movement. Music also lights his creative spark, with many paintings inspired by listening to jazz, blues, funk, and psychedelic rock.
His best work is always to come: “My goal is to remain true to myself and allow my art to grow as I explore new ideas, techniques and mediums.”
Director of Web Development
Covert Special Agent
There’s an air of secrecy around Eugene, or as some like to call him, “Agent Pogrensky.”
For over 14 years he’s been AdServices’ web development wizard, engineering covert strategies to create secure, highly-effective online environments for clients. He knows the codes that make the world go round, and we all sleep better with him on the case.
At home, there’s no mystery about Eugene’s priorities. With wife Maya and their three children he’s a committed family man who’s open, accessible and ready to let his hair down.
Just don’t ask him to spill any secrets.
If your impression of artists is that they follow a different path, Patrick Shea doesn’t disappoint.
A laidback guy with a nonconformist spirit, he’s the only AdServices team member who commutes to work on a scooter. But if you think he’s just in it for the wind in his hair, you’ve underestimated Patrick: He gets 60 miles a gallon on gas.
When the stresses of life ramp up, he chills out playing guitar, shooting pool or reading the latest Stephen King thriller.
And when it’s time to scoot, well, Patrick’s got the perfect exit strategy.
Senior Web Developer
Street Hoops Free Agent
When Danny was 15 he participated in a computer assembly line, getting to observe the inner workings that produce on-screen wonders. That early experience planted the seeds that would lead him to start his own ecommerce companies before joining AdServices.
Since man does not live on the Internet alone, Danny developed a passion for another net-focused activity: Basketball. “I played basketball every chance I had in school,” he remembers. “I’m still attracted to the finesse, speed and accuracy needed to overcome the opponent.”
Hoops after work? We’ll be on Danny’s team.
Latin Food Critic
A native of Venezuela, Melissa’s Latin roots and creative spirit find their way into every aspect of her life, adding distinctive flavor to passions that include cooking, photography, music and traveling.
A travel fanatic (she even loves airports), Melissa and husband Ray celebrated their 10 year anniversary with an epic New York trip. True to form, she found every artistic point of interest, photographed it all, and grabbed a nerdy highlight posing outside Rockefeller Center, home of fav TV show 30Rock.
As 30Rock heroine Liz Lemon might say, “Ain’t no party like a Melissa party!”
Star Wars Historian
When you find out that Charlie lived in Hawaii, it’s natural to assume that would be the interesting part of his life. Guess again.
His skills as a drummer landed him in a band that was good enough to cut records and tour the country. They even played in London.
But it’s Charlie’s passion for Star Wars that really puts him into orbit. He’s an active member of the 501st Legion, a group that travels to sci-fi conventions, charity and community events to promote Star Wars by wearing self-made movie-grade costumes.
Hawaii? It was okay.
Thousands of books later, Stephanie recalls what first sparked her love of reading. “When I was a teenager there was a cute boy who lived across from the library. I went every day hoping he would notice me.”
Turn the page to now and Stephanie is still enamored with the worlds books can open. She reads three to five a week (no vampire stories, please).
Favorite characters? Her real-life daughters. “They are both very accomplished women with a fabulous work ethic and sense of joy in helping others.”
Their mother’s girls for sure.
Payroll & Benefits
Chef, Finish Line Café
During AdServices’ early years, Linda’s job description read like a company org chart. Payroll, HR, Bookkeeping – you name it, she did it. Of course, being married to agency founder Steve, pitching in where needed came naturally to the then stay-at-home mom.
Today, Linda still provides payroll and HR support, but she’s become the company’s official travel agent, too. No problem there. Travel is one of her passions and she can frequently be found tracking down the best air fares, hotels and restaurants for an upcoming trip.
Business or pleasure? With Linda doing the planning, the answer is often “both.”
